FOOD for THOUGHT
We raise most of our pups on Bil Jac Small Breed Adult and have also used
Lifes Abundance all Life Stages in the past with good results. Lifes Abundance has
to be ordered online (not available in stores). I will drop you a note and let you know what
your puppy has been raised on thus far.
Ocassionally, mature dogs get bored with their food so we switch around some
when needed. Some foods we fall back on for a change may have corn, wheat or
soy so we are careful to watch for any signs of an allergy. With multiple dogs we
must have a food that works for all of them and finding a food where recalls are
non existent or held at a minimum is not an easy task. Some we have used for a
change up: NutriSource Chicken and Rice, Purina Pro Plan Sport 26/16 All Life
Stages or Sensitive Stomach Salmon
You NEVER want to give your pet Rawhide and there is an abundance of it on the
market... NO NO NO
I Highly Recommend the Porky Puffs and Buffalo Bully Sticks
offered by Lifes Abundance to help prevent bordem for your puppy. With adults nothing
last too long. They usually get a knuckle bones but those can be hard on the teeth.
You can Place and Order for the Lifes Abundance the Porky Puffs by clicking here.
Going to a new home and leaving mom, littermates, and the familiar surroundings that it knew can be
stressful on a young puppy. There is more and more exposure to bacteria and viruses in the
environment and the immune system is at a vulnerable point.
No Rawhide (Porky Puffs & Buffalo Bully Sticks are a great option)
No Toys or Beds with Stuffing ( until out of the chew stage)
Stuffable KONGS - "stuff'n" recipes can be found online
Busy Buddy Twist n Treat
Keep it Simple, cheap & easy to replace
WATER BOTTLES / MILK CARTONS
KNOTTED TUBE SOCKS (can drop a water bottle inside too)
To help prevent your pet from swallowing the small remains from a Bully
Stick, search out a Bully Stick holder.
One is called "The Bully Buddy"
Dog/Puppies are Den Animals and that is where most of them are most comfortable. So, when it comes time to leave your
puppy alone, please dont hesitate to crate your puppy. This also will keep your puppy safe while not being watched.
When outside the crate, Kuranda beds are awesome and non-destructible
You can order your Kuranda HERE - they are all I use when a crate is not needed.
Yep, this breed sheds but only 2 times a year each lasting 6 months (haha)
A weekly brushing with a Pin Brush will keep shedding down to a minimum. For the times of the year when
shedding increased and they are letting loose of their undercoat, an Under Coat Rake works wonders and
increase the number of time a week you are brushing. For healthy paws, it is necessary to keep toenails short.
This is not hard and gets easier each time. You can look online for how to know where to cut.
Here are the tools I think are totally necessary. Some you can find at the Dollar Store
FYI: Please do NOT Shave your Aussie or use a "Furrminator"
